Hello! :) Welcome to OmaLocs Beauty, I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Ijay and I’m a proud Nigerian-American natural hair and travel enthusiast. By day I’m a Marketer, but I’m a full-time entrepreneur at heart. My passion for accessibility and uplifting Black women through their hair inspired me to finally bring OmaLocs Beauty out of my drafts and into reality.
As I was embarking on my own microlocs / Sisterlocks journey, there were so many aspects of the process that frustrated me, from the lack of centralized resources available to educate myself, to representation of young, professional women who looked like me embracing their microlocs. Not to mention the cumbersome task of finding a professional loctician near me, only to learn that they were not accepting new clients for installations. Though this was my story, I quickly learned that it was also a shared experience among my peers.
But where there is a will, there is a way. I’ve stepped into my Jesus Year with a renewed sense of self, purpose, and faith. I’m finally taking the leap and starting my microlocs journey while living my entrepreneurial dreams out loud because, like James Baldwin said, “The place in which I’ll fit will not exist until I make it.” I’m confident that OmaLocs will make all facets of the microlocs journey easier and more joyful for all women to come.
Our Story
OmaLocs Beauty is a hub for microlocs discovery, exploration, and community. We aim to be the premiere destination for modern women globally to find microlocs resources seamlessly and connect with other microlocs enthusiasts online. “Ọma” means beautiful or good in Igbo, a language spoken by the Igbo people in the Southeastern part of Nigeria. Though all locs are unique, we believe that locs share one thing in common, they are ALL beautiful.
Our mission is simple, to empower women through their hair.
As members of the community we seek to serve, we recognize that getting microlocs is not only a large financial investment but also a transformative experience for Black women, one that requires patience, care, and support. Regardless of where you are in your microlocs journey, it’s our duty to serve you. Our goal is to help you:

LOC: Find locticians near you and access exclusive, high-quality microlocs services.
LIVE: Join a vibrant community of modern women embracing their microlocs journey boldly with confidence.
If you’re new to microlocs or Sisterlocks, we want to make the learning and decision-making process easier by consolidating reputable resources, providing a breadth of insight into the process, and helping you ask the right questions to understand if microlocs are truly for you.
