My 1 Year Microlocs Update
As I celebrate my one-year anniversary with microlocs, I’m reflecting on how much my hair has transformed over the past 12 months. From the early challenges of slippage to the exciting phases of growth, shrinkage, and increased density, each stage has been a lesson in patience and appreciation for my natural hair. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.

My 11 Month Microlocs Update
It’s been 11 months since I got my microlocs installed and things have been nice and steady. It’s so weird because on some days the changes in my microlocs (particularly length and density) are very visible, but then other times it feels like I’m regressing. Some of this is due to shrinkage and some due to just the everyday ebs and flows of the locking process. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.

My 10 Month Microlocs Update
It’s been 10 months since I got my microlocs installed and I retied ~100 locs by myself for the first time, in between my retightening appointments. It was so overwhelming and daunting. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.

My 9 Month Microlocs Update
It’s been 9 months since I got my microlocs installed and I’m feeling encouraged by the journey, although I’m still struggling with dry scalp. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.

My 8 Month Microlocs Update
It’s been 8 months since I got my microlocs installed and I finally tried the Locs Amplify Shampoo. I’ve been keeping my hairstyling simple. I also created the Microlocs Moments Substack and @getmicrolocsnear me Instagram account to connect with locticians and grow the number of listings on our app. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.

My 7 Month Microlocs Update
It’s been 7 months since I got my microlocs installed and I’m embracing the way my locs frame my face a lot more. I'm experimenting with new ways to curl my hair and finally rocking a side part, now that my hair naturally falls into a short bob, which I absolutely LOVE. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks and 7 life lessons my microlocs have reinforced along the journey.

My 6 Month Microlocs Update
It’s been 6 months since I got my microlocs installed and I've been learning so much about my hair. If you’re interested in hearing about how my journey has been so far, in addition to my thoughts on Sisterlocks XL and the Mielle Organics hair loss saga, keep reading.

My 5 Month Microlocs Update
It’s been 5 months since I got my microlocs installed and I’m finally starting to notice growth in terms of length. This month I experienced a little bit of thinning at the base of my locs in the crown area, so I ended up combining a few tiny ones as a preventative measure. I’m still loving the journey so far. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.

My 4 Month Microlocs Update
Can’t believe it’s been 4 months with microlocs already (I say this every month). When looking for inspiration from other women with microlocs, it was often around the 6 month mark where I started really noticing changes in their locs, so I’m looking forward to hitting that milestone by end of summer, and comparing to day 1. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.

My 3 Month Microlocs Update
I can’t believe I’m already three months into this journey. Time is flying by. As much as I am eager for my locs to drop and have length, I’m really trying to enjoy this short starter phase, because I don’t think it’s appreciated enough. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.

What I Learned During My Microlocs Consultation
Before getting my microlocs installed in Lagos, Nigeria at EniBraids, I had a virtual consultation. It was comprehensive and covered everything from the basics of what microlocs are to what techniques are best suited for what hair texture and how to maintain the hair. Here’s everything I learned during my consultation.

My 2 Month Microlocs Update
Two months with my microlocs and things are still good, although I’ve dealt with some issues with slippage and marrying. Here’s an update on how things have been going over the last four weeks.
